Who is 215 Lax?
Our Motto- Sportsmanship Above Skills
About Us-
215 Lacrosse was founded in the Spring of 2020 as a need for feeder programs for the Neshaminy, Bensalem, and some other surrounding school districts. Shortly after that Covid hit and 215 Lax had to wait till 2021 to have it's inaugural start.
Spring of 2021 we had our first team. A 7th-8th grade girls team. We started with 17 girls, most who had not played lacrosse before, and some who had never even played a sport before. We ended the season winning our last two games. So proud of how our girls learned a sport, and even more importantly how to play like a TEAM!
At 215 Lax, our main focus is to build athletes and promote sportsmanship! Our goal is to help your son or daughter learn how to be part of a team and how to respect their team, other teams, the refs, coaches and ultimately the game. Of course we will be building their skills as well... we definitely want to kick some butt on the field, but not at the expense of sportsmanship. We do not tolerate any kind of bullying or shaming. We do although promote healthy sarcasm and lots of fun and laughing.
Our Affiliation-
215 Lacrosse is a USA Lacrosse approved club. This means all of our players and coaches are USAL members and as such are covered under the USAL insurances and certifications. This also means that all of our coaches are background checked for the protection of your athlete and 215 Lax.
Our Board-
President and founder, Mike Ivins
Mike has been working with youth in various capacities since his teens. Mike found lacrosse originally when he went to college in Virginia. Mike has volunteered as a goalie coach at the high school level for both boys and girls. Mike was part of starting the boys lacrosse team at a large high school at the Jersey Shore where he was the goalie coach for many years. Mike currently holds a level 2 certification from USA Lacrosse. When Mike's girls started playing at Neshaminy High School, Mike got involved with coaching the girls goalies there and organized and ran many stick skills and shooting clinics.
Boys Lacrosse Director- Scott Adickes
Scott was brought onto the board to help us build a boys lacrosse program. Scott is a father of four. Three young boys and a daughter. He is hoping that they grow up to play the sport. We are currently looking for coaches to help us get the boys program off the ground.
Secretary- Derek Haffar
Derek was brought on the board to fill the sudden hole left by Ron Warhula. Derek is a college professor at twho high profile colleges in NYC.
Honorary Board Member- Ron Warhula
Ron was part of the founding of 215 Lacrosse and was the very first to hold our Secretary position. Ron did a lot behind the scenes to help build and grow 215 Lacrosse. Ron left this world in January of 2023, but he will always be a part of 215 Lax.
